10:05 Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus- Columbus, Ohio

In 2020, when I started my first haunted road trip, I visited the Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus in Columbus for a quick dine. Fast forward to 2026 and while in town for the World Oddities Expo convention, I decided to visit it again. 

In the restaurant, patrons sit at a mahogany wood bar. Below the bar has a beautiful mosaic floor. Light from the stained glass windows give the place ambiance. 

Bott Brothers Billards 

In 1893, the Columbia Expedition kicked off in Chicago. One of the exhibitors, the Bott family setted up a beautiful bar as part of the exhibit. The bar itself is mahogany wood and beautifully carved. The success of the exhibition gave the Bott family boldness. So in 1897 they opened Botts Brothers Billiards. They also brought the bar from the exhibition and installed it in the Columbus location.

The restaurant used to have a clock outside that would for some reason always stop at 10:05. Well there is a reason why. The story goes that in 1909 there was a notorious ladies man named Colonel Randolph Pritchard who frequented the establishment.

On a cold February night, he was beckoned by a woman to come outside. When he went outside the saloon to meet her, she stabbed him. He staggered back inside and dropped dead bleeding on the mosaic floor. When patrons tried to find his killer only a lone bare footprint was found in snow. It is also said the woman perished in the cold and too died that night. 

Up until the clock was removed it was said to stop at 10:05pm the exact moment the colonel was killed. Footprints from the woman also would appear in the snow. So whistle that The Elevator is haunted by the colonel, he is haunted by his murderer. 

Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus Today

To this day the mosaic outside says Bott Brothers despite the restaurant's currently being Elevator Brewery and Draught Haus. The bar from the exhibition is also still there with generations of patrons that sat on it.
