Ochopee, Florida, has a United States Post Office like every other city in the US.

However, there is one tiny detail to it.It is the World’s Smallest Post Office. Hundreds of visitors visit this location daily to gawk at the size and send mail.

Originally, It was not built as a post office but a storage shed for irrigation pipes for a nearby tomato farm. In 1953, It was converted to a post office after a fire took out the local general store which also served as the post office. Initially, It was only to be a temporary post office till a new one was built, but slowly the 7 x 8 building grew onto the community. This cemented its place as the permanent post office.

Two employees currently work at this location. One of them is postmaster Don Walters (seen in photo) who enjoys having his photo taken by visitors with the pint size building.

Visitors purchase a postcard for $1 to mail from the World’s Smallest Post Office.

If you’re ever in Ochopee, Florida, be sure to send a postcard.
