Located in Dublin, Ohio, on the outskirts of Columbus,  there is an unusual roadside anomaly called the Field of Corn. I was familiar with this place through the book Weird Ohio, and my dad also mentioned having a client living in that area. It was commissioned in the 1990s by the Dublin Art Council to cover 3 acres of Sam and Eulalia Frantz Park. Sam Frantz was the former owner of the property and one of the founding fathers of hybridizing corn.

I went there in February 2022 while visiting the Columbus area for the day. While I was there, people were also there taking pictures. I walked around and got a view of the place.

A whopping total of 109 corn cob statues are erected on that field! One of the trees that grow around there is the Osage Oranges. These trees were known to be used around the area by farmers as divider lines for the corn fields, hence why the statues plant them. Since I came during the winter, the only oranges around were the rotting ones on the ground.

I recommend going there if you are in the Columbus area. I might go back there when there’s warmer weather.
